Speech Topic: Why people should buy the Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Sketchers’ Pocket Box
Speech Title: Open Your Horizons with the Winson & Newton Cotman Watercolors Sketchers’ Pocket Box
Speech Type: Persuasive
Audience Analysis:
- Knowledge: Limited knowledge. Most people in my audience do not know about the benefits of watercolor painting or about the product I am trying to sell.
- Attitudes: My audience might have a negative attitude towards art and watercolors because they believe that they need talent to paint. During my speech, I need to work on convincing them that art is for everyone by giving them examples of the many benefits that come with creating art.
- Expectations: There aren't any real set of expectations since my audience is a captive audience. They are just going to listen to my speech because they have to do it for a Speech class; however, the audience knows that the purpose of the speech is to sell a product.
- Demographics: The audience consists of college students, so the majority of them are between the ages of 18-24. There is about the same number of women and men in the audience. Most of the audience lives in Miami, so the audience is highly influenced by Hispanic culture. I have no clear information about the socio-economic status of my audience, but because they all are public college students, I would say that most of the audience is part of the middle class. I have no information about my audience's religion or political affiliation. The most important factors that could influence my presentation are the audience's age, which I could use in my favor because young people tend to be more open to new experiences. And I also have to be aware of their social-economic status by telling them about a product they can afford.
- Setting: My audience is going to be an online audience, so even though there are going to be about 30 people listening to my speech, each one of them is going to watch it at their own time. Because the audience is online, I have to be aware that people could easily get distracted when listening to my speech. The speech is going to last between 3 to 4 minutes.
Speech Purpose: To persuade my audience to buy the product Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Sketchers' Pocket Box
